You don’t need to wait until the start of a new year to begin a new health and fitness regime. Whenever you begin looking after your body and mind, you will soon start feeling the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. So if you have been feeling sluggish lately and your body is telling you to go easy on the junk food, here are a few simple ways to help you rejuvenate your body and mind.

Detoxify your body

We consume damaging toxins on a daily basis, from unhealthy foods, chemicals, and pollution. We may love eating large quantities of chocolate and drinking alcohol, but our bodies will not thank us for it. It is time to take care of your body and cleanse your bloodstream and digestive system from all the badness circulating within it.

Purchase a blender and begin drinking juices made from fresh fruit and vegetables. Not only will your body feel lighter, but your mind will feel also feel less muggy. Don’t be tempted to purchase store based juices as they often contain a lot of sugar, and will be counter-productive to your detox.

Like coffee, tea contains caffeine but is not as bad for you as it contains energizing antioxidants, which you can also find from eating fruit and vegetables.

Also, you can sweat the toxins out and take a nap in the process by visiting a sauna. Take plenty of water with you as it will get hot in there!

Eat fresh food

Processed food may be convenient, but the high dosage of sugars and fat mean they are unhealthy for your body. Instead, eat organically grown fruit and vegetables which are free from dangerous chemicals, and eat plenty of fresh fish and meat too, bought over the counter at any reputable supermarket. These contain the essential vitamins and nutrients that you won’t find in your average microwave meal.

Alleviate the menopause

No woman can escape the menopause, but they can overcome menopausal symptoms such as fatigue, hot flushes, and mood swings by eating superfoods such as flaxseed, prunes or Maca which contains all the nutrients and vitamins needed to go through those most difficult of times.

Try probiotics

We tend to think bacteria is not good for us, but our body is riddled with bacteria cells, and that is a good thing as it enhances our immune system, staving off illnesses, such as the common cold.

Probiotics are helpful bacteria, improving our skin, digestive system, and mental health. While our body already contains probiotics, you can purchase more to give your body a boost, in certain chocolate, yogurts, and supplements.

Exercise

There are many benefits to exercising regularly, including weight loss, reducing cholesterol to your heart and improving your mental health. For some people, exercise means walking to the kitchen and back to grab a snack, but by taking on a new sport, or deciding to walk rather than using your car, you will soon begin to feel better mentally and physically. You will build up a better appetite and sleep better, too.
