6 Reasons Why Everyone Should Dance
Whether you think yourself to be a dancer or not isn’t the point. Maybe you’ve always loved to dance but figured that now you’re an adult it’s just not ‘what you do.’ But that is so wrong. Dancing is for any age, young or old. It can make you feel incredible, not only physically, but mentally too.
- You can do it anywhere
Whether you join a dance class, go clubbing, go to a wedding or just stay at home listening to music, you can dance wherever you want to. – You don’t need an excuse to do it.
So create a playlist of your favorite songs and dance away until your heart’s content!
- Dancing is just damn cool
Who doesn’t get impressed by the power of dance? Even some animal breeds dance to attract a mate, so it definitely has its uses.
Imagine being at a dinner party with your friends, or at a work due, and you tell people you’ve started dancing – they will be so surprised, and even a little intrigued. Just be prepared for them to ask you to show them something. So make sure you have a plan.
- Dance is the best kind of drug
When we get stressed our body makes over 30 different ‘stress’ hormones which torment you whenever you have a worry or are nervous about something.
Dancing can tackle these horrible hormones with some of its own called oxytocin and dopamine. These are usually referred to as the ‘love drug’ because of their incredible abilities.
Not only that, but dancing reduces blood pressure, soothes muscles and even increases your metabolism which burns up fat, as well as those nasty hormones. So who needs drugs when you can dance?
- Make the most of your body
You can get so much done by moving around every day, as a pose to if you’ve been sitting on the sofa all day barely lifting a finger. Dancing not only keeps you active, but it helps keep the problems that we associate with old age at bay, like arthritis and high cholesterol. Everyone has their own limits, so don’t push yourself too hard, but as long as you go at your own pace and listen to your body, there’s no reason you should ever have to stop dancing.
- Dancing doesn’t feel like a workout
Dance is fun. Working out is a chore. So instead of dreading the gym, dance for an hour instead. Or put your name down on the list for Zumba, an aerobic salsa style dance workout. Zumba fitness is the best cardio class if you don’t like spinning or circuit training.
- Dancing as an adult is awesome
Life can be hard; everyone knows that. But if there was something to take that pressure away, (for free,) and make you feel young again, then why would you not want to do it?
Now you have all the reasons why you should dance, what are you waiting for? Grab your best dancing shoes and shake what your Momma gave you until you can’t feel your feet anymore.
