Delicious Appetizer Ideas For a Summer Party
Summer is always a good reason to have a party. The sun is shining, the weather is warm, and you don’t have to clear up the mess indoors when you can have a party outside! What makes a party in the summer is the food and drink that you have there. You have to get the food right. Otherwise, it just won’t fit together well. So here are some party food ideas for any summer parties that you might be planning. They’re simple but effective, and most importantly; tasty! I’d love to hear if you give any of them a go.
Greek Salad Kabobs
Greek salads are great for summer. They are tasty and fresh and have such a range of flavors. But one fun way of making a Greek salad easier to eat (yes to no needing plates and cutlery), is to make them into kabobs. All you need on each one is slices of tomato, black olives, cubes of feta, with some grilled eggplant or cucumber slices. Drizzle with a little olive oil if desired and serve.
Crudites and Tasty Veg Dip
Crudites are a must at any party. They, along with chips, are the ultimate grazing food that people will keep going back for. A different dip, instead of the usual sour cream or salsa is a good idea, though. Just to mix things up a bit! Use sour cream, mayonnaise, chopped dill, garlic salt, and a few dashes of Worcestershire sauce. So easy to whip up but something a bit different.
Boozy Fruit Dip
If you’re looking for a fruit dip, then making one that your guests won’t have tried before is such a good idea. A fun alternative is using Bailey’s to make a super creamy dip for apple slices or strawberries. Take one package of instant vanilla pudding, and mix it with one cup of milk of your choice. Then stir in a container of cool whip and throw in half a cup of Bailey’s Irish cream liqueur. A real treat for a party without children!
Mini-Shaved Ice Cones
Having a shaved ice cone will take everyone instantly back to childhood, right? So they could be a fun addition to any party. The great thing is that you can make or buy, a huge variety of shaved ice syrup, so people can create colorful and tasty variations to suit them. If you don’t have a shaved ice maker, they are pretty inexpensive. But some blenders or food processors will be strong enough get the ice crushed for you.
The less that people need to use cutlery at a party the better. So anything that can be rolled up or put on a skewer is always a good idea. A fun one for summer parties is taking some sliced turkey and some cream cheese. Spread the cream cheese over each turkey slice. Then add a small pickle (or a large one sliced in half). Then roll up and serve. Tasty, filling, and really simple.
