Is There Such A Thing As Being “Generally Healthy” Anymore?
It’s a dangerous expression to use nowadays, being in “generally good health.” But what does this even mean? Is there such a thing as being generally healthy anymore? Farming practices over the last few decades have gradually depleted the soil of nutrients, meaning that the vegetables we eat now are less nutritious than the ones our grandparents ate.
But also, the amount of fad diets we see on a regular basis, like the increase of health issues like cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, and so forth, does this mean that we need to start taking our health into our own hands? It certainly looks like it does. But what can we do to make sure we are heading in the right direction? The answer is surprisingly simple.
Cut Down The Processed Foods
Lots of things we now eat have been tampered with, padded out, and pointlessly injected with things like water to make it go further. Instead, we need to be eating more whole and processed foods. This means going to our local greengrocers and butchers. These foods have come straight from the farm, and are as unprocessed as you can get in the modern world. When you make the switch from low fat, processed foods, to whole foods, you will feel fuller and will resist the urge to fill up on sugary snacks.
Increase The Minerals
The way it used to be, there was enough minerals in our water, but now everything we are consuming isn’t as nutrient dense as it was 30 or 40 years ago. As a result, we need to make sure we up our supplement intake. This is a dangerous topic because too many supplements can have the negative effects, but there are some essential ones you need in your diet now. Magnesium, vitamin D, and calcium, have to be part of a balanced diet, and there are supplements like AlgaeCal that have a combination of magnesium and calcium, but with any supplement, you need to make sure you check the labelling to see how much there is in every tablet. You can check out the AlgaeCal reviews on Supplement Police, but with any supplement, you need to make sure it has the adequate nutrients you need. With any issue that you may have, a supplement isn’t going to be the solution, but by having it in conjunction with a proper diet, it will help.
Jack Up The Exercise
We all know that we should be exercising on a regular basis, but do we? It’s unlikely we do. But, for those that say that time is not a luxury to go running for 5 miles, this isn’t a good excuse. You can do high-intensity interval training, resistance or strength training, and these have many benefits. Strength and resistance training, such as the use of weights, has been shown to have sufficient benefits for your mitochondria, which is the powerhouse of your cell, and this can help to rejuvenate many aspects of your health. It’s also been shown to be beneficial in people over the age of 80. This shows that there is no such thing as being too old to exercise!
Generally healthy is such a vague term now, but we all know what will make us feel better in ourselves. But these three things, and applying them to your life right now, will have major benefits for your general well-being.
